Now that I have little ones running around my home, I feel like this was the appropriate year to start adding a little spooky decor around the house and I’m so glad I did. Here’s a few photos of the minimal decor I started with this year and a few links to some Halloween Decor I’ll most likely be adding next year.
Outside I went with some fun, muted toned pumpkins and these amazing plants that I found at my local grocery store. The rest of the items I was able to gather around from my home in order to make it looks welcoming and pretty.
What I used…
When my husband and I found out our dear friends were pregnant with their first child, I couldn't have been more excited for them! And quite frankly, we are just as excited that our children will be so close in age that they will grow up together! Best friends in the making. I was so happy when she said yes to letting me throw a shower for her. Best part, they aren't revealing the sex of the baby! So, it was time to get creative with the gender neutral theme.
Because we all love the outdoors and do at least one annual camping trip a year, it seemed like the perfect fit! And hey, my sweet tooth is always up for a delicious s'mores treat! I'm looking forward to doing our first camping trip as a group of six!
Pulling it all together was easy once I became fixated on making a buffalo check bunting banner. Things seemed to naturally evolve after that. I warn you though... Set aside enough time for such a task... I got more than I bargained for!
The tent was a huge hit! My dog wanted to make it her home, but we sent it home with the parents to be for their newest addition to enjoy when they're older.
The table came together quite easily. I repurposed the wood from a prior event, gather the rocks from my yard, filled in some space with some live plants and topped it off with some tasty treats!
The s'mores bar outside was a huge hit with the kids!
Gifts for the new parents!
The favors turned out so cute!
I am so pleased that the party was a great success! We were thrilled to host our friends and their loved ones, and celebrate this extremely exciting time in their lives! We couldn't be happier for their new family and can't wait to plot future camping adventures!
Congrats Ryan and Brynn!
We love you and can't wait to meet your cuddly bundle of joy - xoxo
A huge "thank you" to Wynne of W H Earle Photography for the fantastic photos!!
Once in awhile, a beautiful girl meets a handsome man... And then WE get to help her sensational bridesmaids plan her a gorgeous party! I got to work very closely with the bridesmaids as one of Emily's closest gal-pals is also a dear friend of mine. As a fellow designer, she has excellent taste, which made things a breeze! Thanks Ally!
This party was such a delight to help design. It really came down to nailing all the details to achieve the classy feel that was desired with a modern play on color and pattern. We certainly had a wonderful evening and I hope you've enjoyed the images!
A special thank you to my dear friend and talented designer, Ally Fountain! You were so wonderful and easy to work with. The party turned out beautifully! And I can't wrap this blog post out without a HUGE thank you to the wonderfully talented, Wynne Earle with Wynne Earle Photography. You captured every details of this party to perfection! xoxo
Emily wed her husband on August 23, 2015! Congratulations Emily! We love you!

The best thing about Independence Day in The Pacific Northwest is that it is typically reigning in our summer. As Interior Designers, we get asked for holiday decorating tips all the time and Fourth of July is no exception. I'm going to share a few examples of the patriotic decor I've been admiring this year as well as my new favorite summer cocktail. For more holiday decor ideas, follow Whitestone Design Group at our Pinterest Board where we are always collecting little gems!
When decorating for any holiday, I'm a big fan of adding subtle touches that work all year round if you want them to. I love this blog I found on Pinterest of a few simple touches that say, "Celebrating Independence Day," without being overly committed to just one day of the year. Simple fabrics and suggestive prints make for easy pillow covers that can be added and removed throughout the year, but the impact is pretty impressive! This wooden flag is an easy weekend project that won't break the bank and pulls it all together! See the rest of this project on the Dear Lillie Blog here.
Because I am so crazy for my partner, Katie Cooper's massively impressive chalkboards, the look below really speaks to me! The best part about chalkboard decor is that it's relatively inexpensive and can be customized to say anything you want. In addition, you can always paint over your chalkboard and start all over again! What you see in this patriotic decor is low commitment and really easy to accomplish for your summer celebration! You can see Katie's chalkboard at her East to West Studios Etsy shop. And to see more images from the project below, check out The Golden Sycamore's Blog.
An easy way to set the tone for your Independence Day Party, a Welcome Wreath! Go simple and make this a family project with the kids. Holiday wreaths let the world know that you love the holidays and I've never made one that cost me over $50. Below are a few that I'm loving this year. Onto my favorite part!! Summer Time Cocktails! I can't quite nail down how I arrived at this concoction, but I'm so glad I did. I find it to be refreshing and the flavors are so indicative of some of my favorite summer flavors! Try it out at your next summer shindig and leave us a comment with your thoughts.
